Where is My Mind

Jun. 4th, 2009 | 03:56 pm
mood: stressed stressed

I haven't posted much here lately.  Some combination of Twitter, Facebook and not having a place I feel I can really post private thoughts anymore.  Everything is so open and even the closed areas aren't entirely safe.  I'm afraid that even the small things I say will cause ripples in space that I'm not ready to deal with and so silence...

This week is not going well for me.  On the surface, life is the same ole, same and maybe even better.  If it were only one off day, I'd ignore it like I have been.  Perhaps I've been putting something off and it's catching up to me.

Whatever is going on, I can't work on it today.  Send some good vibes?

Did that actually work?

I'll be in town next weekend (Friday May 1st thru Monday May 4th) for some awesome wedding action on Sunday.  That leaves a lot of extra time to get in frisbee and other shenanigans though.

You have been warned.

A Series of Thoughts That Have Piled Up

mood: contemplative contemplative

I loaded in all the email that I have backed up into Gmail (going back to '98) just a bit ago. Yeah weirdness.

I never thought of myself as big on email, in fact there weren't that many, but I wrote way more personal emails back then. Less business, more "how you doin'?"

I also updated my LJ more. I'm still wondering if I've outgrown LJ's usefulness (all the gripes with new management aside). Not that I think that Twitter, Vox or Tumblr are the solutions, but Facebook has really replaced a lot of what I used LJ for in the past (status, conversation and voyeurism of friends past and present).

Hm.

Schweet

I can touch my toes! For the first time since the 4th grade...wow.

Wendra showed me a way to work out the tightness in my IT band and presto I'm two steps closer to normalish. I'm going to do this everyday and work my way up to gumby.

It was a total head slapping moment. So maybe I don't have bad knees. I'm just one of the most mellow yet wound up people you'll ever meet. I wonder what else is too tight? Hmm...

back to earth

mood: hopeful hopeful

I've been getting way too caught up in moments for my own good lately. Living moment to moment only makes the in between time hell. So I need more structure.

Despite lists being a hot topic lately, I could probably use one at this point to keep me honest. No better way than to post it.

1. Get up earlier
2. Stretch, knee strengthing and pushups/crunches every morning
3. Find a cardio activity and add 30 mins of it to each day
4. Do your homework
5. The hard one: Turn off your mind and stop thinking about things so much

These are all doable (at least I hope #5 is) and necessary. I need a dose of long term reality about now.

Maybe the party is over; I think it was fun though.
